You know what is more important than traffic?

A good business model, that’s what.

The better your business model is at extracting money from your site’s visitors, the more money you will make. Period.

One model I really like is the “Publisher model,” which not only sounds fancy and respectable ;-) , but is also really easy for anyone to set up AND makes a lot of money for you, if done correctly.

Here is how it works in the web scenario:

1. Create a website with lots of content on it, monetized using Adsense or affiliate links, etc.

2. Drive traffic to it

3. Make money

I realize that’s overly simplistic, but that about describes the essence of it.

But most people screw it up anyway. They get stuck on the first step – creating the website.

What they do is they confuse the publisher model with the writer model, and mix the two up.

Instead of focusing on PUBLISHING the content on their website, they keep focusing on WRITING the content themselves.

And that’s where the screwup lies. Because writing content not only takes a lot more time than you need, it also pays nothing.

Writing content does not pay you any money. PUBLISHING content does.

If you are going to follow the publisher model, please stick to being a publisher. Let someone else be the writer.

Just like all those publishing companies do in the offline world. The publishers of books and magazines make way more money than the writers themselves.

Not just that, the publishers earn money from a LOT of books and magazines being sold, whereas the writer earns money (if at all) from just a few (or one) book.

Can you translate that back to the web scenario? If you write all the content yourself, you can only have one, two or three websites making money for you (if at all), whereas if you stop writing the content and focus on just publishing the content on your website, you can be making money from a lot of websites, all at once.

Think of a website as a well-oiled “machine” that keeps working for you, day in and day out. Set it up once, and forget it. Then move on to the next machine.

THAT is where the real strength of the Publisher Model lies.

Anyone can do it. I can do it. You can do it.

But the question is, are you going to actually do it?

PLR content makes it really easy for you to follow the Publisher Model. Here is where you can get 110,000+  PLR articles as well as a cool software tool to make your PLR article packs unique to avoid duplicate content issues.

“Writing content does not pay you any money. PUBLISHING content does.”

    These is absolutely true!!!

  2. Deaf Parents Says:

Writing contents is what brings visitors. And visitors are what brings money thru CPA or Clickbank

  3. admin Says:

Content brings visitors, yes. But not necessarily content that is written by YOU. Search engines don’t really care who wrote the content. All they care about is the site where they found it. It doesn’t matter who actually wrote it.

This is why I say that PUBLISHING content is what matters, not writing content. You can get it written by anyone else or even use PLR content.

You definitely hit it right on…outsource tasks and stay focused on the things that make you money. You can tackle a whole lot more websites at one time if you are not the one doing everything! Get that machine working and start creating the next! Agreed.

  5. John Says:

Very well put! I’ve been guilty of this in the past… so caught up in the writing that I didn’t do enough publishing. Excellent explanation of the critical difference. PLR is a real goldmine if you use is properly. Or if you have the funds, outsource original content creation and publish it in droves. Money is waiting!

Being a publisher is what I just recently started doing. My issue isn’t with the PLR aspect of it, it’s getting the traffic to come.

A lot of good sense. I like the comparison between offline publishers and writers – never thought of it like that before. Thanks.

  9. Abcent Says:

Well, of course the “Publisher” business model works pretty well even if you don’t have PLR contents to buy. You invite general public towards your publishing portal and allow them to contribute their work with limited privileges. You being the editor, edit their jobs such as “approve”, “edit (adding affiliate codes)” etc.
You can run most of the contextual ad servers. But, in the end you will have to pay Google/Yahoo or someone for the keyword marketing to send tonnes of traffic to your website.
    A dollar for another.

It’s simple rule but true. Thanks.

As long as Google looks at your content as being “good” -whether you write it yourself or use PLR, you’ll get traffic – but you need to choose your keywords wisely in order to get that traffic. Unprofitable keywords will get you nowhere.

  12. Manos Says:

Well, when you have the ability to write a content then you are the best and you have more chances to have a unique blog. But undeniably you can create a unique PLR article too.
